COMMITTEE STANDING RULES
 
Standing Rules of the Nominations Committee
of The Graduate Students Association
of The Catholic University of America

Article I: General Provisions

A. The name of this Committee shall be the Nominations Committee of The Graduate Students Association of The Catholic University of America, hereinafter called “the Committee.”

B. The Committee shall be composed of at least 5 permanent members, including the Committee Chair.  The GSA Secretary will be the Committee Chair.  The GSA Vice-President, GSA Treasurer and two GSA Academic Senators will each name one person to the Committee subject to approval by a simple majority of the GSA Senate.

C. The Committee shall include those temporary members as is deemed appropriate by the Committee.

D. Only one representative from any one department or school with regular membership will be permitted to sit on the Committee, excluding the Chair.  Any department or school with affiliated membership may have one seat on the Committee per 500 students or fraction thereof.  However, an affiliated department or school may not hold a majority in the Committee.

E. A quorum will be defined as a majority of the members of the Committee including the Committee Chair.  The attendance of a quorum must be met in the Committee in order that the Committee votes be binding.

F. Committee votes shall be binding if they obtain a simple majority of all valid votes cast.

G. Non-members of the Committee may not sit in during Committee meetings unless approved to do so by a 2/3 majority of the Committee.

Article II: Responsibilities
A. The Committee shall review the qualifications of all GSA and university committee candidates.

B. If a candidate is to represent the GSA on a university dean search committee, then the Nominations Committee must consult the students in said department or school.

Article III: Normal Activities
A. The Committee shall recommend to the GSA President candidates to serve on GSA committees.

B. The Committee shall recommend to the GSA President Candidates to serve on university committees.
 
C. The Committee shall recommend to the GSA President candidates to serve on university dean search committees.

Article IV: Amendments
A. These Standing Rules may be amended by a 2/3 majority vote of the permanent Committee.
